Huge Ottoia prolifica – Burgess Shale Equivalent – Middle Cambrian Utah

Ottoia are normally associate with the famous Burgess Shale deposits. This very large specimen comes from the time-equivalent Middle Cambrian Marjum Shale of Utah, USA. This specimen exhibits exceptional soft tissue preservation showing fine segments, faint intestinal tract and some spiny setae around the proboscis. The specimen is curved in a classic “U shape”, with each side measuring just over 5 cm. Outstretched this animal would have measured nearly 11 cm!
